Report: Rangers 4-0 Tingley Athletic

Our Men’s First Team continued their pre-season preparations with an impressive 4-0 victory over Tingley Athletic at home.

Rangers produced a commanding display against Wakefield & District League opposition, controlling the majority of possession and dictating the tempo throughout the afternoon.

The home side started brightly and took the lead through Danny Brooks, setting the tone for what was to be a dominant performance. Rangers continued to control proceedings and created a number of opportunities as they looked to extend their advantage, but had to settle for a 1-0 lead at the interval.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Rangers continuing to see plenty of the ball and creating opportunities as they looked to put the game beyond doubt. The second goal eventually arrived through Ben Gomersall, who extended Rangers' advantage and gave the home side further reward for their dominance.

The third goal came through Matthew Briggs after some excellent pressing from the Rangers forward. Briggs closed down the Tingley goalkeeper, forcing an error before reacting quickest to the rebound and making it 3-0.

Rangers continued to look comfortable as the game entered its closing stages, with the clean sheet never seriously threatened and the home side maintaining control.

There was still time for one final moment of quality. With virtually the last kick of the game, Danny Brooks completed his brace in spectacular fashion, spotting the goalkeeper off his line and producing a superb 30-yard lob to round off a convincing 4-0 victory.

It was a thoroughly professional performance from Rangers, with the majority of possession, a clean sheet and four goals providing plenty of positives as preparations for the new season continue.
