Report: Rangers 7-2 Lepton Highlanders

Dewsbury Rangers Men’s First Team produced another impressive display on Saturday afternoon, running out 7-2 winners against Lepton Highlanders Reserves.

Rangers started the afternoon brightly and quickly established control of the contest, dominating possession and creating opportunities as they looked to take the game to their opponents.

Danny Brooks opened the scoring to give Rangers the perfect start before Jaime Da Silva doubled the advantage. Brooks then added his second of the afternoon to put Rangers firmly in control.

Lepton Highlanders Reserves managed to find a response before the break, but Rangers maintained their composure and went into half-time with a deserved 3-1 lead.

The second half saw Rangers continue to dictate proceedings, with the majority of the play taking place in the visitors’ half. Brooks completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot to restore Rangers’ three-goal advantage.

Jaime Da Silva then added his second of the afternoon as Rangers continued to find gaps in the Lepton defence, before Ben Gomersall calmly finished to extend the lead further.

With Rangers firmly in control, Joe Richardson added the seventh to complete an emphatic afternoon for the home side. Lepton managed a second consolation goal, but it did little to take away from what was a thoroughly impressive Rangers performance.

The result was built on another strong all-round display, with Rangers controlling the game for the majority of the afternoon and showing both quality and composure in front of goal.

Seven goals, three for Brooks and a brace for Da Silva, capped an excellent afternoon for the First Team as they continue their campaign with plenty of momentum.
